An SPF record tells the world who is allowed to send email from your domain.
NOTE: You can skip this guide altogether and avoid any potential pitfalls by simply choosing the option "Send customer emails via Quotient". To change this setting, go to Settings > Email Domain Verification.
To update an existing SPF record:
If you are sending Customer Emails from your own domain and you already have an SPF record, then you will NEED to include Quotient in your SPF record.
- If your current SPF record was: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
- You’d then insert the following: include:_spf.quotientapp.com
- …your final record would look like: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:_spf.quotientapp.com ~all
Don't have an existing SPF record?
If you don't already have an SPF record, then you don't technically need one. Although, if you do add an SPF record in the future for other reasons, then Quotient will need to be included at that time.
- First, check that you don't already have an existing SPF record. If you do, see the steps above instead.
- Sign in to your domain administrator console.
- Go to the page where you can update the DNS records.
- Create a TXT record containing this text: v=spf1 include:_spf.quotientapp.com ~all
- Save your changes. Note: some DNS changes may take 24-48 hours to take effect.
